Forks in the Garden

 

It was a late afternoon Sunday evening in November. I was lurking the garden looking to take pictures of birds when I realized this capture of forks would be enough of a reward. There are magical times for capturing good photography; they are early morning and late afternoon. Autumn in California is not as colorful as you would find in may other regions of the United State, but the muted colors do provide a great backdrop.

February Blooms


There is spot on Old Redwood Highway between Windsor and Healdsburg, California that has a row of cherry trees that every year provide a February bloom. This was captured during an unusually cold Sunday morning in February. It was a break in the pleasant February weather we’ve been having.

Daisy Field

Daisy Field
I found this daisy field by a vineyard in the Russian River Valley area. There is no stronger sign of warm weather and the impending spring season than a field of flowers like this. It’s a good thing I was wearing shades when I saw this.

Mustard 2014

Mustard 2014

Due to the lack of rain this winter, there was a late arrival of the mustard in the vineyards this season; we usually see this in February. Once it appeared in March, it came on strong in this vineyard of head pruned vines on River Road in the Russian River Valley.
