Pre-Pruning ~ Russian River Valley, California

Pre-pruning is where you prune the vine, but leave about 10 to 12 buds. Final pruning occurs mid to late February when there is less of a possibility of frost. At that time the canes are pruned down to 2 buds. This image was captured at R. Buoncristiani Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir.
